Hello!
I was wondering if anyone tried solar / sun powered lights for the boards that they operate? This would be for Juniors and some of the biggies. This would eliminate the cost of getting electricity to the board.
I was wondering if this may make sense for an 8 sheet or smaller board?

Yes, I had a solar powered 14’ x 48’. Very early stage technology back in the 1990’s. It did not work well for several reasons: 1) the lights were too dim 2) the lights would not fire up at all if it rained and there was no sun for a few days 3) we were so worried about theft (it cost $10K) that we removed all the access ladders, making the sign very difficult to work on. But this problems may be fixed now – I don’t know.

I was hoping this may have been cheaper than the standard lighting for my Junior Bill, but I guess not!
