You can get shields made at companies such as FastSigns. It’s just vinyl letters on aluminum in the colors you desire.
The shield traditionally is screwed to the metal or wooden skirting of the sign. They are rarely secured to the pole. If you want to secure it to the pole, you will have to build a metal frame – or at least two metal runners – to give the shield structural support. The shield cannot survive any type of windload.
